Advance program in Chemical Engineering at Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, Hanoi, Vietnam is supported and partial funded by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) of Vietnam. The official language in teaching is English. The curriculum is adapted from the Chemical Engineering Program at the University of California at Davis (UC Davis). The UC Davis (www.ucdavis.edu) is ranked 40th in the world. The courses will be taught by UC Davis Professors.

In the first quarter, the student will study English only. Their teachers are native speaking professors. In the second and third quarters, they will study both English and the courses in the curriculum.

1. Educational Objectives

The objectives are to provide a flexible curriculum that enable students to keep up-to-date the latest developments in the field of chemical engineering and oil and gas processing, to provide distinctive knowledge in the area of engineering, and to develop critical thinking for solving problems. The outcomes from the program are characterized by the following capabilities of students:

  • Apply mathematics, science, and engineering to solve problems emerged in the chemical engineering and oil and gas processing fields.
  • Work in multidisciplinary teams to design and evaluate components, systems or processes in the characterization of chemical engineering and oil and gas processing fields.
  • Ability to self-study and research, to have logical thinking and scientific methodology.  Address ethical, professional, and societal problems associated with the interactions between biological and non-biological systems.
  • Engage in advanced study, life-long learning, and be aware of current issues in chemical engineering and oil and gas processing fields.
  • Professional employment in areas such as petroleum industry, chemical and environmental.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Fluency in English.

2. Program Duration: 4 years, including 1 quarter of Advance English Training and 1 quarter for thesis research and writing.
